What Safety Buddy teaches

Four practice areas cover the situations kids are most likely to face:

• •Everyday Hazards — fire, water, poison, animals, and severe weather

Where the guidance comes from

Every Safety Buddy lesson is evidence-informed: grounded in guidance from trusted national organizations — the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, FEMA, NFPA, and others. When Buddy meets a dog he does "Be a Tree" — the response taught by Doggone Safe's dog-bite prevention program — and he meets that dog at home, because that's where most bites to young children happen. Trusted sources remain the authority; Safety Buddy helps bring their guidance to life for young children.

What's coming next

Safety Buddy is being built one solid foundation at a time. The current curriculum is for ages 3-4. Once that foundation is complete, we're planning to expand the same practice-only approach to ages 5-6, then ages 7-8 after that.
